THURSDAY: Aalto University, TUAS building room 1021-1022 (by the entrance) 8.30 - 16.30

 GENERAL INFO

The course is open to all doctoral  students. Course is free of charge including course coffees and a networking lunch on Thursday.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

To learn various practical, technical and theoretical skills that are necessary and essential in research work. To learn English scientific writing (own research proposal to be done during the course / weekend). More info please see pdf. files below.

TOPICS

General info of docotoral studies, ethics, scientific writing, research group, dissertation process, experiences of reserach and working life. Introduction to English scientific writing (6 h).

The lecturers come mosty from Aalto ELEC: professors Erkki Oja, Antti Räisänen, Antero Arkkio, Post doc Clemens Icheln, GETA doctoral student / Henrik Kettunen, library/ Antti Rousi, language center / Ken Pennington, Anya Siddiqi & Jan-Mikael Rybicki and ELEC staff/ Hanne Puskala & Katrina Nykänen.

Outside Aalto University:

Director Eero Vuorio from Briocenter Finland, University of Helsinki (ethics) and Dr. Lasse Erikssson from Konecranes.
